The past year

The past year
There is nothing certain about Nature. You can only humbly bow and follow. Most of us have felt it in 2020-21 and we still do not know how it will end. For many a wake-up call.
As a winemaker, you have to deal with the forces of nature every day and adapt to the new conditions. The one who does it best usually gets the most success. Enough about that, how has it been? In short, good; frost, drought and rain - the worst wine year since 1957, my year of birth... I thougt it was a good year. Well now the farmer are whining again.

Based on the circumstances, we have done really well, but unfortunately we also got a slap in the face. France has generally lost around 25 percent of the wine harvest this year. The quality for us has been good with tops of Viognier, Chardonnay and Merlot. We had great difficulty with Syrah'n due to a lot of rain during the harvest but we managed to get the work done.
The past year
We think this year's Merlot is the best made in my almost 10 years on the vineyard, it will be really exciting in the future to mix cuvées on it. The accommodation has been good and we are doing our best year in terms of sales and service. We have received many superlatives from our guests, and we think we have found a good concept for our business and look forward to 2022 with confidence. The past year

Making your own wine at Escapat is growing every year and I think now people are starting to understand how good these wines are and they are only getting better and better. It was a bit difficult from the beginning because we had no history to lean on but now we can prove our quality which makes things even more attractive.
A new swedish website has been released and we are working on the english and french version aswell. Right now we are working hard to translate all Swedish blog posts and articles to the english version of Escapat Magazine.
The past year
Agriculture is progressing according to plan with new planting, removing unprofitable fields and we will make some changes on the personnel side and in the fields, which will increase the quality and profitability when everything is in place. For example, in 2020, we pulled up 8 hectares of Carignan and still managed to keep the same total volume of grapes in 2021 during a difficult year.

Whats next. We continue to spread our message; No industrial wines only locally produced quality wines in small editions. Join in and spread the word!
